Your old guitar is starting to loose its shine, or maybe you are tired of the typical designs of classical guitars. You wished to own a guitar more appealing, closer to your own style...
Well, you are reading the right article. Here are the steps you can follow to personalize your guitar.

0. Before starting, place yourself in front of your guitar and think about the design and colours you would like to be seeing. Take your time, you can do some drafts on paper if that helps you.
1. Get the materials you need to sand and paint the instrument:
Sand paper. It shouldn’t be too rough, we do not want to damage the wood.
Paint. In case you have decided to use colours in the design.
Varnish. It is very important to get a good finish and protection.
Brushes and rolls. To paint and varnish, try to get good ones, otherwise they will leave hairs everywhere.
Masking tape.
White spirit.
2. Sand the instrument.

To get the best result you have to sand doing circles and pressing uniformly.
A guitar has many coats of varnish. To paint on it you will have to sand a lot. Be ready and take it easy, do not use a machine to save time, the instrument is delicate.
Anyway, you do not need to sand until the last coat of varnish, stop when you feel the tone appeals to you and the paint will hold without problems.
3. Painting and varnishing.
The guitar is finally ready to be painted. To be sure there is no dust on it, clean it with a piece of cloth moistened with white spirit. Use the masking tape to do the drawings and protect the areas you do not want to paint or where you will put other colors. When the paint is dry, start with the varnish, giving several coats of it.
Wait until the varnish is dry to put the strings, and...
Here it is! The custom guitar!
